Following the directive by the Nigerian Telecommunications
Commission (NCC) to mobile telephone network service providers, that
some of its customers should update and verify their SIM registration
data or stand the risk of being disconnected, over 300 customers at
the weekend, besieged a Virtual Top Up (VTU) outlet of the MTN in Abraka, Ethiope east local government area of Delta State to get enlisted for the update and verification exercise.
Our correspondent, who arrived the registration point at 02:17 pm, gathered that some of the customers who comprised residents of Abraka, Eku, Oria, Obiaruku, Umutu and its environs, had arrived the place as early as 6:00 am.
This, it was learnt, was because the MTN VTU outlet which is located in the premises of Sudoz Petrol filing station that is sited on the Sapele/Agbor road was the only agent in the area which was authorized to carry out the verification and update exercise on behalf of the service providers.
