47-Year-Old Man Rides To GEJ, GMB (See Photo)

The cyclist from Kaduna have ridden more than 200 kilometers in 7 days in honour of the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, and the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan.
Mohammed Auwal, on Wednesday, May 13, arrived in Abuja from Kaduna riding on a bicycle.
The man stated that he started his trip on Tuesday, May 5, from Kaduna to Federal Capital Territory because of his strong belief and determination to celebrate the victory of Buhari as well as President Jonathan, for conceding defeat before the announcement of the presidential poll result by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Auwal said he rode for seven days to arrive at the federal capital territory. The 47-year-old man was dressed in a green-white-green track suit and a crash helmet.

He decided to launch the seven-day trip to give thanks to Buhari, President Jonathan and INEC chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega, for the role it played in guaranteeing the peaceful conduct of the just concluded polls.

Auwal, also noted that he came to Abuja to finish the job Suleiman Hashimu started, saying the Lagos-Abuja trekker only visited Buhari without recognising the role of the current leader of the country.
The man, who said he had three letters of commendations said, he also came with messages for Buhari, from the less advantaged Nigerians, who are suffering in their different communities without elementary infrastructure.
I got the inspiration from the unity Nigeria was able to exhibit from this last election. Because there were speculations that Nigeria is going to break and this generated mistrust amongst Nigerians, that before the elections, people left where they were residing to their hometown, with the believe that the prediction would come to pass.

“Also, on my way from Kaduna state, I took tour around communities and I was able to gather enough factual information on the living standard of the common man in the village. These people are also Nigerians and they deserved to be treated as Nigerians.
“I visited a school where there is no single source of water. I visited a primary school where the well is as deep as 70feet, the staff room is nothing to write home about, not to talk of the classrooms. I also visited a community where the only source of water is occupied by frogs. These are some of the messages I want to relay to the President-elect,” Auwal said.
