Police said that Rickie Rashee Walls, 30, took his 1-year-old son to rob a home together with his accomplice, 24-year-old Ronnie Lee Williams.
Both men were charged with third-degree theft and second-degree theft of property, Adamsville Police Chief R.W. Carter said.
Police were called to a house in the 3400 block of Poplar Lane around 11:10 a.m., for a robbery in progress.
Hicks called his neighbor at work and asked if he expected company. The neighbor who said that he was not expecting anyone, decided to go home and see who was there.
The homeowner fired warning shots at the thieves before entering the home. That is when the thieves came out of the home and Walls “held the baby as a shield,” Carter said.
The two men escaped but were later arrested. The baby is now in the custody of his mother, who said that Walls was babysitting their son at the time of the robbery.
