Gunmen attack bullion van, escape with undisclosed amount of money

Armed robbers yesterday, struck in Elemoso village, along Ondo-Akure Road in Ondo East Local Government Area of Ondo State, looting a bullion van and escaping with undisclosed amount of money belonging to a first generation bank.

The incident, which occurred at about 6.30p.m, left the bullion van and the escorts’ vehicle conveying the policemen riddled with bullets.


A source stated that the policemen were caught unawares when the armed robbers shot sporadically at the police escorts’ van and the bullion van simultaneously.
The source explained that the policemen and the driver of the van took to their heels immediately the hoodlums opened fire on them.

It was gathered that some of the occupants of the van were hit by the bullets.
However, the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Isaac Eke, who described the attack as shocking, said his men had commenced investigation on the attack and were on the trail of the hoodlums.
The police boss pledged that his men would soon arrest and bring the hoodlums to book, urging the law abiding citizens to go about  their lawful businesses.
