The rib cracker made the declaration during his annual comedy show, Crack Ya Ribs: The Declaration, which was held at the Congress Hall of the Nicon Hilton Hotel, Abuja, during the Independence weekend.

As early as 5pm, the Red Carpet was lit like a Christmas tree with fun seekers mingling with celebrities as camera bulbs flashed. By 7pm, the show proper kicked off when Julius Agwu came on stage and led the audience in praise worship which lasted for over 30 minutes after which his co-anchor, Okey Bakassi, joined him on stage.

The show witnessed performances from comedians like Pencil, Romeo, Osama, Monkals, MC Longs, Tripple White and MC Jay while Patoranking and Seyi Shay entertained guests with music. Most of the jokes cantered around Ebola and the challenges of poor governance. Contin....

The high point was when the comedian reiterated his determination to gun for the governorship of Rivers State in 2015. Hear him: “My ambition to be a governor is born out of the need for the youths to have a say in governance. As you already know, today is The Declaration. I am officially telling the world that Julius Agwu is running for governorship in Rivers State in 2015.”

According to Agwu, the way Nigerians united to kick out the Ebola scourge was highly commendable and if Nigerians could unite in the same way in the fight against terrorism, Nigeria would make a head way.
“As we celebrate our 54th Independence anniversary, I want to engage my colleagues in entertainment that we should be part of that change that we desire,” Agwu opined.

Advancing reasons why he was competent for the office of governor, Agwu continued: “Whether we like it or not, we have been playing our own part as entertainers. Over the years I have built a sustainable brand and exported it. Whether we like it or not, I am an entrepreneur; I have the ability to manage recourses. That is why I have decided to serve my people.”

The event also witnessed the courting of a birthday cake in commemoration of Nigeria’s 54th Independence anniversary celebrations. The show was sponsored by Heritage Bank while Dana Air was the official career.
