Beau Biden, the 46-year-old son of Vice President Joe Biden, died Saturday after a battle with brain cancer. The Biden family announced the news around 9:45pm last night.

In a statement, the Biden family said: ‘It is with broken hearts that Hallie, Hunter, Ashley, Jill and I announce the passing of our husband, brother and son, Beau, after he battled brain cancer with the same integrity, courage and strength he demonstrated every day of his life.’

Biden, who lived in Wilmington, Delaware, served as a major in the state’s National Guard, and later as the Delaware Attorney General.

A young Ghanaian girl identified as Blandine (I attached the pix) was on May 25th electrocuted to death after the power bank she was using to charge her phone got stuck on her skin and electrocuted her. According to reports from Dumsor, Ghana, the girl was chatting with a friend when she fell asleep and placed the power bank she was using to charge her phone around her breast region. She had connected the power bank to an electricity source so it can charge when power is restored. As power was restored to her area, their was a power surge, the power bank got heated and got stuck on her skin, electrocuting her to death. Her parents found her dead. So sad!

Parents, teachers and students of Spring of Life International School, Enugu have resorted to holding vigils in their school premises after the state government allegedly indicated plans to demolish their school which they termed an illegal structure.

According to one of the students who reached to LIB, the state government had recently embarked on pulling down illegal structures in the state built without a town plan approval and had marked their school premises for demolition. Their school management immediately approached an Enugu state court and the court issued an injunction barring the state government from carry out the planned demolishing. I joined robbery because I am the first child

The police in Lagos have arrested five suspected members of a robbery gang which unleashed terror on residents of Ijanikin area on Sunday, May 24.

One of the robbery suspects, 25-year-old Ajayi Solomon, told PUNCH Metro that he went into armed robbery because his parents were late and he needed to take care of his siblings.

Solomon, who hails from Oto-Awori, Badagry, said the gang had planned the robbery while they drank and smoked at the Egun festival. He added that he had five siblings which he took care of with the proceeds of robbery.

 “It was at the Egun festival in the Oto Awori area that we planned the operation. We drank and smoke hemp during the festival. At about 8pm, we left for the Ijanikin area. We were about 40 persons. We robbed till dawn.

Police Has Arrested one Mr Ajayi Olatunbosun  for allegedly hiring thugs to pour acid on his ex-wife, Bamidele Otakiti, in her shop on Adejobi Street in the Ajasa Command area of Lagos.

PUNCH Metro gathered that all had been well between the couple since they moved to Lagos in 2005 until a few months ago when a disagreement soured their relationship. The quarrel was said to have led to their separation in February, 2015.

It was learnt that the suspect, prior to the divorce, had on several occasions accused Otakiti of adultery. However, despite his discontent with the alleged act, the 47-year-old commercial motorcycle rider (okada rider) pleaded with the woman not to divorce him. It was learnt that

Solomon Arase, the new Inspector-General of Police have begged Nigerians not to give bribe to policemen even if they ask of it saying, it takes two to tango and Nigerians shouldn’t be part of it. “We have a zero tolerance for payment of money to free suspect. I am appealing to members of the public, not to corrupt my men; It takes two to tango. If they ask you for bribe and you refuse to give, and you have avenues where your grievances can be ventilated, I do not see any reason why you should give them bribe. The Commissioner of Police is there; the Area Commander is there; the DPO is there; and the technical platform (to report corrupt policemen) is there. We have opened ourselves to public accountability. So, you cannot now say the whole problem should be blamed on the police force’’, he said.

A man was arrested on charges of rape after allegedly having sex with a young girl in a hotel room while recording the acts, police in Japan said.

Ibaraki Police said that they have arrested 38-year-old Tsuyoshi Kuwana, on charges of human trafficking for using the 14-year-old girl as an actress in adult videos.


According to the police investigation, Kuwana paid $1,220 to purchase the young student for recording illegal acts in a hotel room in Tsuchiura.

Police raided the man’s home, where they found about 100 DVDs with him having sex with underage girls.

Group Asks Court To Stop Buhari’s Inauguration (See Their Reason)

A group, Advocacy for Societal Rights Advancement and Development Initiative, has instituted a fresh suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking to stop the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, from swearing the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday.

The suit filed on Tuesday is also seeking an order nullifying the certificate of return issued to Buhari by the Independent National Electoral Commission,Punch reports.

The plaintiff hinged the suit on the allegation that Buhari did not qualify to contest the presidential election on the grounds that he gave false information about his academic qualification to INEC.

Between January and February 2015 there were about 10 cases instituted by various plaintiffs challenging Buhari’s eligibility to stand for the poll on the grounds of his academic qualification controversy. But after he won, the cases were withdrawn.

We Will Not Leave Kashamu’s House Despite Court Order- NDLEA

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA has said that they would not leave the house of Mr Kashamu a senator-elect and a prominent member of PDP despite a court order asking them to leave. According to NDLEA, they only got to hear about the court order in the news today and it might not be true. The agency spokesperson in a press statement also said it is hard to believe that a court of law will prevent a government agency from performing its responsibilities.

But according to earlier reports, a Federal High court today had issued a ruling ordering NDLEA operatives who had laid a siege on Mr. Kashamu’s home in Lagos since Saturday to vacate.

  

“The NDLEA does not believe that any court will issue an order preventing a government agency from performing its statutory responsibilities in a lawful manner. The agency has therefore refused to be distracted and will continue to maintain presence at the residence. It is advisable that Kashamu respects the law by submitting himself to the due process of the law.

The outgoing Governor of lagos state Babatunde Fashola, today, May 26, 2015, commissioned the Lekki Free Zone (LFZ) (Phase 1) Independent Power Plant.

Fashola also commissioned the Candel Agrochemical Manufacturing Plant which is similarly located in the LFZ.

The governor explained that the power plant is the 6th to be commissioned in 8 years and would cater to the whole of the Ibeju- Lekki as well as creating more employment and services for the people.

Boko Haram Video Footage Shows Foreigners Fighting Alongside Terrorists

Video footage taken from conquered Boko Haram camps has reportedly confirmed that some members of the sect are foreigners.

The foreigners are said to hold positions of power in the sect and fight along the Nigerian members, according to Reuters.

“They (foreigners) carry arms and fight alongside the other terrorists. They are also experts and trainers,” a senior military source, who chose to remain anonymous, revealed.

The military has said that it is examining the video footage to identify the fighters and study the inner workings of the group.

Reports also have it that the Nigerian government has employed the services of foreign mercenaries, mostly South Africans, to aid the battle against the sect.

Tragic: House Maid Bites Madam on Her Boobs Until She Gave Up The Ghost

The police in Oyo State are investigating how an alleged bite by a housemaid, Elizabeth Fatoki, led to the death of her employer’s neighbour.

According to a source, the deceased, identified as Tawa Lawal, 30, was engaged in a brawl with the maid when the latter bit her breast, Vanguard reports.

Mrs. Lawal was then rushed to a hospital, where she died after some days.

The deceased was a mother of three.

Her children are Barakat, 15; Waris, 10; and Aliya, 2. Their mother has since been buried according to Islamic rites.

Man Narrates How He Almost Lost All His Family In The Hands Of Boko Haram

A Boko Haram survivor currently residing at Mararaba Gurku near Abuja, James Yaduma,tells Leadership how he lost almost all his family members in one fell swoop to the rampaging Boko Haram insurgents who struck his Zha community of Hong Local Government in Adamawa State about 7 months ago.
Yaduma, who was a farmer before he was sent packing from his village, has since started a new vocation in his new found abode to keep body and soul together by scooping sand in a nearby stream and disposing it to builders of houses as the place is a beehive of construction.

Herbalist,Prophetess Defraud 2 Bankers Of N6m(Pictured)

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a herbalist, Ismaila Abdullahi, and a prophetess, Bola Ojo, for allegedly defrauding two bank workers of a sum of N6m in the Egbeda area of the state.

The suspects, however, told PUNCH Metro that the bank workers brought the money to them for prayers without being coerced.They added that the bank workers wanted to perform ‘money rituals’.

According to the police, Ojo is the prophetess of a Cherubim and Seraphim church in the Iyana Ipaja area, while Abdullahi is a herbalist in the Egbeda area.

Our correspondent learnt that the bank workers, whose names were not disclosed, had met one Ajibola, an alleged informant for the suspects, who is still at large.

Ajibola, posing as an aide of a renowned politician, had reportedly introduced a deal to them.

It was gathered that the worth of the deal was put at N5.8m, and Ajibola asked his victims to bring the money to a location with a promise that they would get fat rewards after the deal.

Man Commits Suicide After His Wife Refused To Have Sex With Him Because His P*enis Was Too Large

A man committed suicide after his wife refused to have sex with him following an enlargement procedure, police in Thailand said.


Chiang Mai Police said that the horse track worker hanged himself in front of the ticket office on Thursday.

Friends of the 45-year-old man identified as Suea, told investigators that his wife refused to have sex with him after he underwent an enlargement procedure for his manhood.

Suea was found hanging on a rope at the Nong Ho Horse Track, and his body was surrounded by empty bottles of alcohol. His wife however, denied the allegations, saying that Suea became an alcoholic after being fired from his job.

He also suffered from schizophrenia, often talking about people from above asking him to come live with them. Police ruled the case a suicide.

I Will probe Amaechi- Rivers State Gov-Elect Wike

The Rivers State Governor-elect, Chief Nyesom Wike, has said he would probe the outgoing governor when he gets into office. He gave this hint while receiving the interim report of the Transition Committee in Port Harcourt yesterday, where he declared that his administration would carry out a forensic audit of all government accounts. Wike says the forensic audit will help him recover funds that might have allegedly been stolen by top officials of the outgoing administration in the state.

Policeman Shoots 34yr-Old Man Over N2,000

A mobile policeman in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, allegedly shot a 34-year-old Adamu Mohammed, over an argument of N2,000 unpaid fees for a menial job.

According to Mohammed's family, the victim was shot last Tuesday by the mobile policeman after an argument with a woman who hired him to clear a portion of land close to her home at Erepa Road and dumped at the Federal Medical Centre.
Residents who claimed to have witnessed the incident, said the shooting took place after an argument ensued with the woman over the amount to pay for the job and Mohammed’s squabble with a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, officer.

They said the policeman shot him in the thigh to demobilise him.

After the announcement by Ifeanyi Ubah that Capital Oil would release 13 million liters of fuel to aid the suffering of Nigerians over the fuel scarcity,officials of the Nigerian Army on Monday took over the Ojodu Berger outlet of Capital Oil, buying petroleum products in drums, after scaring away thousands of consumers.
The armed personnel came in the guise of maintaining peace and order, but they soon abandoned their primary responsibility for fuel racket. They shoved, maltreated and sent away those who were on queue to be attended to, thereby gaining access to have their drums loaded with fuel.

As of press time, the unregistered white Isuzu truck they use for the ‘deal’ had visited the filling station for the fourth time.The fourth truck was being loaded as of 8:50pm.

University Of Ibadan Closed For 2 Weeks Due To Shortage Of Water & Electricity

Authorities of the University of Ibadan , (UI) on Monday asked its students to vacate the premises immediately, pending the time the problem of shortage of water and electricity would be addressed.
The directive was issued to students following ‎an advice given by the Committee of Provosts and Deans to the university’s management.
The Director of Communication of the institution, Mr Muhammed Oladejo ,who confirmed the development, said the management only asked the students to proceed on a two-week mid-semester break.
The students of Independence Hall of the institution had in the early hours of Monday stage a protest.
The students complained that they were facing hard time as a result of shortage of water and electricity.

An official of the university, who spoke , but pleaded anonymity, said,
